Gluten Free Wristbands!

GLUTEN FREE Wristbands are in stock! I was having a hard time reminding myself to eat gluten free.  All my old habits would subconsciously come back and I would find myself reaching or thinking about something with gluten.  I decided to get myself a LIVESTRONG wristband to support all diseases/cancers and as a constant reminder to myself to eat gluten free.  It worked! I decided to have GLUTEN FREE wristbands made!  Once I started wearing mine, people everywhere were asking me about it or asking me if I had celiac.  Not only is it a daily visual reminder, but it is a conversation starter. Over...

Gluten Free Tortilla Pizzas

A few nights ago, the thought of eating the same old gluten free dinners, sounded too boring.  So, for the first time, I went to the store and bought a gluten free product…  La Tortilla Factory’s Smart & Delicious Gluten Free Wraps!           The felt very similar to normal flour tortillas!  They were not brittle and did not fall apart.  They cost $4.19 for 6 god-sized tortillas.             I’m really starting to miss pizza, so I decided to make my own.  I used some HyVee pizza sauce, ground beef and a pizza blend of shredded cheese.  I broiled them in the...

Gluten Free Makeup!'; digg_bodytext = '\n\n\n\nMakeup is one of those things we celiacs kind of forget about, but it can be a big issue, lots of ingredients, chemicals, and whatnot so how do you know what’s “safe?” After a few too many breakouts and puff-ups after spending a fortune at the makeup counter, I need a consultant!  Luckily I have a makeup artist in the family to demy'; Makeup is one of those things we celiacs kind of...

A Well Stocked Pantry is a Celiac’s Best Friend

When I was diagnosed about 4 years ago, the food choices weren’t very good. Most of the stuff was really expensive and tasted like either cardboard or packing peanuts. Thanks to government food labeling and much more awareness there’s a lot more selection now, but I still like to do my own cooking, that way you know what’s in there!!! (Story time: I was lied to by a waitress at PF Chang’s who HAS a GF menu and got REALLY sick. Trust no one, kids!!) So to keep all of you from getting sabotaged by a waitress at PF Chang’s, here are my favorite things to keep in the kitchen: My 3-cup...

Andrea’s Gluten Free Pizza

Last week I was back in St. Louis at my parent’s house, where my dad and sister also have Celiac.  My mom was going to be out for the evening and told me to make the frozen Andrea’s gluten free pizza for dinner.  Andrea’s is GF bakery, located in Chesterfield, MO.     When it is thawed, you have to be very careful if you are going to move it.  When uncooked, the crust is fragile.  It cooks the same way any frozen pizza does.  We had the Spinach Artichoke Cheese pizza.       I didn’t have very high expectations for this “fake pizza”, but it was pretty...
