  2. Poppy Fields says:

You lucky people! If I had the money, I would open my own GF bakery in a heartbeat. It’s still the dream for “one day”!

  3. Matt says:

not exactly a bakery per say but whole foods has a GF bakery and they ship the stuff out frozen and keep it in the frozen isle. you can get any of their GF stuff shipped in with in 48 hours and AFAIK for no extra charge. some of their stuff is great and other stuff was stereotypical GF bricks

I haven’t been here yet but I’ve heard that this is an incredible bakery. It’s just in a part of town I dread going to due to very limited parking.

    New Cascadia Traditional Bakery
    Thank you, Jennifer! Added! -S2GF

I went to the Little Aussie Bakery in San Antonio, TX a couple of months ago. It was amazing. I had the Big Bloke sandwich and my friends had the Chicken Salad. It was all great. It is a deli and a bakery and everything is gluten free. I was very impressed.

    In Philly there’s Mr. Ritts
    http://www.mrritts.com/
    fabulous stuff!
New York City has BabyCakes NYC
    http://www.babycakesnyc.com/
which is vegan AND GF…they’re coming out with a cookbook in April. Can’t wait!! They have one recipe available on Martha Stewart for brownie bites which are to die for!!

    Thank you! -S2GF

  8. seamaiden says:

    From Mr. Ritts’ web pg.
In expanding bakery located in Millville, NJ, we cater almost exclusively to the celiac community and offer gluten-free desserts virtually indistinguishable from our original wheat based products.

Regretfully, our Philadelphia location is now closed.
We thank you for your past business and invite you to
take advantage of our shipping menu or visit our expanded
    Millville store.

  9. seamaiden says:

Also, note that Babycakes bakes with Spelt for some of their products, which may be suitable for some with mild wheat allergies but is not gluten-free. They do offer many GF products but I wonder how they handle Cc…

  10. mb says:

I’m surprised it hasn’t made the list yet but IMHO, the best GF bakery in the country is The Sensitive Baker (http://thesensitivebaker.com), in Culver City, CA (LA). I travel all over and I strive to make trips there just for their bread sticks. Sandee is the owner and it is great for other allergy folks too!
    Thank you! Added it! -S2GF

  11. We carry great GF goods from “Out of the Breadbox” GF bakery.

  12. Matt says:

after getting some of whole foods gluten free sandwich bread… ehhh, ive found better recipes to make your own, not the worst GF bread ever but it has the stereotypical hard and heavy and has a slightly weird taste (almost chemically/metallic taste but not). as toast or with peanut butter and jelly it might be better.

i would say give it a try but dont expect great bread for those of us that were use to normal breads before going GF

  13. Harris says:

You missed one in the St. Louis area – this copied from the Delphi Forum.

    Free Range Cookies http://freerangecookies.com/

More than just cookies. Jen’s note: the owner bakes the best gf bread I’ve ever had.

Handcrafted gluten free baked goods using high quality wheat free, dairy free ingredients. Garlic focaccia bread, oat bread, cinnamon raisin bread, and baguettes are created using traditional, artisan methods to enhance the texture and flavor. Banana chocolate chip and cranberry oatmeal cookies are delicately seasoned with mesquite flour and packed with certified gluten free oats. Many other products as well, including burger buns.

Got it! I haven’t been there yet, but will soon! -S2GF

  14. Mike says:

Thanks Harris! I had never heard of Free Range Cookies

  15. Kelly says:

Rheinlander Bakery in Arvada, CO does Gluten Free. I’ve yet to try them as their GF line also seems to be Sugar Free, and I’m not one for Splenda.

I have tried the gluten free cupcakes, and I prefer the chocolate ones with vanilla frosting. You can refrigerate them, but make sure to bring them to room temp before you eat. I believe they are $2.75 each.

  19. Julie says:

In Southeastern Wisconsin (Milwaukee area) Molly’s Gluten Free Bakery http://www.mollysglutenfreebakery.com/ they have great sweets, fantastic bread (I love the herbed French loaf) and really good frozen pizza crusts. I always keep a few in my freezer, then when friends want to go out for pizza, I bring my crust along and most restaurants will make me a pizza on my crust.

  20. Nan T. says:

I am very interested in learning about gluten-free baking & my dream would be to incorporate it into a bakery that I would love to open. Please email me with any information or resources any of you have. There aren’t any listed in Iowa & would love to be the first.

There’s also a bakery in Parker, Colorado called Posh Pastries that makes gluten free products. The owner has gluten free tasting night once in a while and her products are very good.

  28. we are a commercial bakery supplying restaurants and grocery stores in the Houston area

  29. Heidi says:

The Rheinlander Bakery in Arvada, CO is amazing. I was overwhelmed by the selection of gluten free pastries- there were so many that looked good that I wish I could have tried one of everything:) I too was a little worried about most of their gluten free items also being sugar free. However, after trying them I felt they tasted better than pastries with actual sugar. The bakery uses natural sweeteners including Xylitol and Stevia not Splenda. I can’t say enough good things about the gluten free items I had from this bakery. Absolutely delicious. The service was great too!
