Gluten Free Margaritas

Sorry this took so long to post… someone had to drink all the samples….

Now that I can no longer drink beer… I have found satisfaction in margaritas.  Don’t get me wrong, nothing is as good as a nice cold, fresh Bud Light, but a lime or strawberry margarita(no salt, please) can at least take my mind off of beer(a nice cold, fresh Bud Light on a hot summer day).

This is my favorite recipe, courtesy of my uncle O.J.

“1 can of Bacardi’s margarita mix, or 1 can of frozen Limeade
8+ oz of tequila
4 oz of triple sec
1 oz of orange juice
Fill with ice and get the best blender that you can buy.”

*A whole 12oz can of Limeade can make them pretty sweet, so maybe use a little less.  A 10oz. can of Bacardi mix is just right!

*Depending on how frozen you want it, vary the amount of ice.

You say “now that I can no longer drink beer” … have you found no GF beers that you like? I do miss having a variety of beers to choose from (I used to enjoy trying lots of microbrews, etc.), but I do enjoy Redbridge. The only other I’ve tried is New Grist, and it’s awful.

I agree…I am enjoying Redbridge – not expensive either. I also found New Grist and Bards awful. But strongly encourage you to look up Redbridge. You go to their website, put in your zipcode, and they tell you where to buy.

true this marg is gluten free but most are. why dont you try a “healthy” version that is also closer to the traditional recipe.
2oz silver agave tequila, juice of 1 lime ( cut in quarters for optimal juicing – reserve 1 quarter for garnish), liberal squeeze of agave nectar ( you can now find this product in most supermarkets). pour all ingredients in a metal cocktail shaker filled with crushed ice and shake the hell out of it. pour into your favorite glass with salted rim of course and enjoy.

Thanks for the info, Mike, I sure miss my cold beer too! I cannot find any of those gluten-free beers down here in Alabama. I sure am glad I can have margaritas now!!
