REVIEW: Amici’s East Coast Pizza: Lombard St.

During my recent trip to Half Moon Bay and San Francisco, I insisted that we stop at Amici’s East Cost Pizzeria.  They use Still Riding Gluten Free crusts.  It was a very nice pizza restaurant and even had gluten free signs on the windows.  

All of the pizzas are a little more expensive than I am used to in the midwest, and the gluten free 12″ pizzas are in the $25 range… ouch!  I figured, we are on vacation, so I would get it.  The pizzas look amazing!

I was a little disappointed about the taste.  The crust had that bad gluten free bread taste and texture.  The crust got thicker towards the middle where it was very dry.  Near the outside, it was better.  It was thinner and had a little more “normal” pizza taste.  I was expecting more.  All the great toppings could not take my mind off the crust.  I give it an overall 5 out of 10 on the Mike’s Gluten Free Pizza Scale(a very official rating system!).  Price was high, crust wasn’t great, but the topping were good!

If you are dying for pizza, and don’t mind spending $26 on a 12″ pizza, then I would recommend it.
