Gluten Free Attitude

Being diagnosed with a disease is never a good thing. BUT, being diagnosed with a curable disease is not something to be depressed about. With celiac disease, you can cure yourself by eating a gluten free diet. Not only be happy because it is curable without medication, but you are changing your overall life for the better!

I frequently see, and used to do it myself, a bad attitude towards having to eat gluten free, especially from those newly diagnosed. There are two ways to tell people about being gluten free.

DON’T Do This: “I have celiac… it sucks… I can’t eat pizza, pasta, bread, and drink beer anymore. I hate my life.  Where is the nearest bathroom?”

Do This: “Yes, I have celiac disease. It is curable by not eating gluten. No, I can’t eat some of my past favorite foods, but my new diet has made me a healthier person. Eating gluten free can even improve the life of someone who does not have celiac. I feel like a new person since going gluten free!  Don’t mind me as I pull some gluten free soy sauce from my pocket.”

Well, I wouldn’t say Celiac is curable, but I would agree that it’s treatable.

And you’re right…it’s all in what you eat.
My personal favorite is DePuma’s Gluten Free Pasta. It’s gluten free and delicious, considering other pastas have failed.

Anyway, I like your outlook on dealing with Celiac and from experience I can whole-heartedly agree that it does make you a healthier person.

…kind of makes you wonder what we put in the rest of our foods…more or less those that are not organic.
