Here is “Velmoose’s” personal story and answers to my list of gluten free questions for the Mary’s Gone Crackers contest.
What are your favorite restaurants? Are these different than before you followed the diet?
Outback Steakhouse and a local Mexican place. I’ve always loved Outback.
Are food industry workers knowledgeable about Celiac disease?
Sometimes, I’m finding more and more servers and so on who know more about it, usually because they have a family member with celiac.
Do you trust that the food you receive from restaurants/friends/family members is gluten...

Here is a link to a story NPR did on a 13 year old child switching to gluten free. It is a brief 4 minute overview on celiac, how he was diagnosed and his family’s new lifestyle. They make it sound so easy!!! What do you think?

Here is Bella’s personal story and answers to my list of gluten free questions for the Mary’s Gone Crackers contest. I hear similar diagnosis stories from people of that generation. My grandmother and father were both misdiagnosed for most of their lives and found out they had celiac after they were 50.
What are the foods you missed the most?
Crackers, chips, most breads.
If you initially did not follow the gluten free diet. What made you change your mind?
I’m going to add this addendum to say I am almost 60 and didn’t know I was allergic to gluten until I was about...

I can’t “love” many of my favorite foods anymore, but after switching to gluten free, there are two things I do love: Mary’s Gone Crackers and hearing other people’s stories. For the next month, I am able to combine the two!

Tonight my sister had to write a paper on something food industry related. So she picked celiac at the last minute, because I was available to answer some questions. One of the requirements for the paper was to interview someone in the industry (I guess you could say I am in the industry). Well, the paper was due at midnight, and she gave me the list of questions at 9PM with some excuse about her previous interview falling through… procrastination runs in the family! Below are her list of questions that cover almost all of my celiac experience, so I thought it was worth sharing.
I...

A few nights ago, I went to a meeting for the Kansas City Cigar Aficionado Club. I skipped dinner, because I had to leave at 5:30 to get there. I guess everyone else skipped dinner also, because the organizer ordered a bunch of pizzas to be delivered. When I heard he was ordering them, surprisingly I didn’t get all excited and thought this was going to be easy. I was wrong. Once everyone started grabbing pieces of pizza, I was still doing OK, but was starting to want some of that hot Domino’s pepperoni pizza, but I resisted! 30min later, I was starting to get hungry and...

Hey guys,
Here is my food review for the weekend. Let’s just say, food was my focus and I really indulged!
Saturday – Waldo’s Pizza in Lee Summit - Thanks for the recommendation Mike! My friends selected the Lee Summit location b/c the only other time they went to Waldo’s was the KC location and they had over an hour wait. No wait in Lee Summit. They had a pretty good gluten free menu. But, I had to go with the pizza! I ordered the 6 inch Waldo Combo (hamburger, pork sausage, onions, canadian bacan, green pepper, mushroom, pepperoni, black olives). It was...
