Schar Gluten Free Pizza Crusts

My mom had some of these Schar Gluten Free Pizza Crusts around for my dad and sister, so she gave me one to try.  There are two in each box.  You don’t have to keep them in the freezer, just in your pantry.  I made a BBQ chicken pizza with San-J’s Asian BBQ sauce, which is gluten free! I was pretty skeptical at first and assumed they would be really dry and brittle.  They were NOT!  They were actually very good.  I could see going to a normal pizza place and enjoying this pizza as if they had made it on site.  I would buy this product again! #gallery-1 { margin: auto; } #gallery-1...

Gluten Free Raviolis Recipe

Here is the Gluten Free Raviolis recipe you’ve all be asking about!  This is my great grandmother’s recipe, so I am divulging family secrets with my well-being at risk.  I don’t know if it is anything special, but if both of my knees are broken by the St. Louis Italian Mafia, we will know. A month before Christmas, some of the family gets together and makes the raviolis then freezes them.  The tradition is to cook and serve them on Christmas Eve when the family gets together. May our grandmother and great grandmother forgive you for sharing this outside the family. Grandma...

Watch this video and let me know what you think?  I’m not sure if I agree with a few things, but ya gotta trust people who are smarter than you are… Video from the DoctorsChannel.com Here is the entire article: NEW YORK (Reuters Health) – Celiac disease is 4 times more common now than it was in the 1950’s, according to researchers at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Gary Vaynerchuk Book Signing

I know this isn’t 100% relevant to gluten free, but Gary Vaynerchuck is a lot of the inspiration for my blog.  He is basically the leader in social media consulting and blogging.  He has built businesses based around the online community. He did had a book signing for his new book Crush It last week in St. Louis.  Afterward, some people went to a wine bar(his specialty is wine) where we got to interact with him a little more closely.  I’d recommend watching some of his keynote speeches. Here are the videos from his talk at the book signing.  He spoke more than anyone expected. Does...

Chipotle is Gluten Free

I have some personal good news and bad news for you: I am no longer addicted to gluten, although I am now addicted to Chipotle. “I want to avoid gluten. What can I eat at your restaurant? Most people wanting to avoid gluten can eat anything we serve except for our wheat burrito tortillas, our soft wheat taco tortillas, and possibly our hot red tomatillo salsa (there is a small amount of distilled vinegar in it which some gluten-oriented websites still say might be problematic, although most don’t). Everything else is fine to eat for most people wanting to avoid gluten, including our crispy...

Gluten Free Sick Day Foods

A while back someone asked me “what are some good foods to eat when you are sick?”  I don’t get sick too often, BUT today I am!  It seems like when you are sick, you crave unhealthy, soothing foods. I really want to hear from you about what you eat when you are sick. My personal favorites: Orange Sherbet Warm Apple Cider Orange Juice Soups Here is a screen shot of General Mills Progresso Soups that are gluten free:

Gluten Free Is Not Hard

Someone made the point today that there is a lot of whining going on about gluten free being so hard and not being able to eat anything.  Come on people, it isn’t that hard!  It is only as hard as you make it.  Sorry, but you can’t eat a ten course meal with everyone else and not tell the dining staff about it, but you can find simple ways to avoid gluten. I continually preach: Keep it simple! Especially, for those of you who are just starting out.  If you can stick to basic foods, whether you are at home, or out to eat, then it isn’t so bad. .
