Please see my article on Gluten Free Beers and leave a comment about the ones you have tried.  Some examples of gluten free beer: Redbridge, Bard’s Tale, Green’s, New Grist, Messagere, Sprecher, & Woodchuck.

I have been asked this question a lot, and never covered it specifically, because I thought it was pretty self-explanatory.  After getting the question twice today in my live chat feature, I figured it was time to set the record straight.  NO, Bud Light is not gluten free.

Being freshly out of college and my old business catering to the summer vacation crowd, beer was one of the hardest things for me to give up.  On a daily basis, I was offered beer by customers and friends.  It was always hard to turn it down, led to lengthy conversations about celiac, and left them feeling very sorry for me.

ABBeerInFridgeToday, almost a year of 100% gluten free, I still miss normal beer only a little, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t.  It was very hard in the beginning, but the desire is much less now.  Now, I choose something different and don’t sweat over it.  The gluten free beers taste much better now than they used to, probably because I am forgetting the taste of Bud Light.

I have gluten beer in my fridge that has been there from before I switched to gluten free.  It has helped to have it in there, so that I can pass the willpower test every day.  I even threw some gluten free awareness wristbands around a few to always remind me.  It has worked.

Here is a before and after photo… of the beer I am drinking, not my weight, hahaha.

Before: In college drinking a Bud Light.

Wild Thymes Contest: Wristband Photos

I AM EXTENDING THE CONTEST…. since I am the only one who submitted photos.  I had a lot of people purchase gluten free wristbands because they were going to take submit a photo, but no one has yet.  I’ll keep this contest open for a while longer, so submit your photos!

Here is one I took a few days ago…

ORIGINAL POST: ——————————————————–

I have partnered up with Wild Thymes Farm to start another fun contest!
Over the past few months, I have sent Gluten Free Awareness Wristbands all over the country and a handful worldwide, to individuals, businesses, and gluten free events! I think it would be a lot of fun to know where all these wristbands have ended up, traveled, and the activities they have performed.

Wild Thymes GF Wristband Photo Contest ’09 from Switch2GlutenFree on Vimeo.

Contest: Take a picture of your wristband in a cool place or performing a fun activity.  I know these wristbands have hit almost all the continents and done some pretty cool things! The contest will run all summer(the week after Labor Day), so you have time to take photos on your vacations or summer activities.

I would really like to see GF wristband photos from outside of the USA.  If you are out of the United States, use coupon code “worldwide” to receive $1 off your order.

Prizes: Three selected winners will receive a sample pack from Wild Thymes!  Each winner will get to choose one dressing, marinade, dipping sauce, and cranberry sauce combination of their choice, to be included in their gift pack, valued over $50! EVERYONE who submits a photo will instantly receive a 25% off coupon code to use on

Early next week, my order will arrive, and I will be able to give you a personal review of the products.  I’m really excited, because the bland salads and vegetables I have been eating for months are getting pretty boring.

Take a photo of a wristband in your home town, when you are on vacation, or if you are doing any other fun activity.  Even take it with your cell phone…. no Photoshop, please!  I’d love to chart all the places we receive photos from.  EMAIL me the photo with the location and description and I will post them below.

I’ll start off the contest with a couple sample photos, as an example: (too bad I am going to Athens, Greece this fall, after the contest is over)

Gary Vaynerchuk Photo Contest

I know this isn’t really gluten relevant, but it is blog related. I follow and listen to Gary Vaynerchuk very closely. If you don’t know who he is, look hi… …just CLICK HERE.

A few days ago, the New York Times did a writeup on him, due to his upcoming book release.

Gary posed a contest to all of his followers, as follows:
“SO I Tweeted this an hour ago! Tomorrow I have a big profile in the NY Times and I had this idea. Anyone who buys the Times tomorrow and takes the most creative picture with the actual article in the picture and leaves a link to it under here will win a dinner with me in NYC in 2010, I will fly you in and put you up, get creative and pass it on!”
So, here are my submissions…
